Well, that day of august, t'was not so hot, but a searching field, even more northward, is always a hot place. Well! t'was not so thirsty, but that day, just being to take that every THIRTY minutes coming and departing bus, we were parched.just thinking of waiting for it at the stop. . Oh! Well! I don't know, but if I do, I must confess we were not really hungry,, but i have to admit that terrace, we were looking at now from closer, was very attractive, with its well and its vine, with its quiet customers and its googly eyed and smiling waiter. So we sat on the terrace, beneath the vine, beside the well. The local spécialité was chickpea with spinach, then veal and vegetables, everything just like at home I mean Andalusian farm home tasty and a little sturdy. That, actually, was real travelling!
If you want get off your feet and grab something to eat after tramping around the fascinating but vast Italica excavations this simple place is very handy. The courtyard looks across the street to the main entrance. This is simple, wholesome food rather than grand cuisine. Pork and chips, tripe and chips, chicken stew and chips you get the picture. That said, the large helping of green salad as a starter was extremely fresh. What more does one want from a three course lunch for 8,50 Euros? Service from the single waiter comes at two speeds, slow and very slow.
If you really want to eat here... Eat gazpacho. Beware of main course. Waiting is one thing. Arrogant and unhelpful staff is another. But the food is awful. Salty potatoes, meat (care) is horrible. Good they give you wine so you can cheer up a bit before getting your meat. So ok you get what you pay for but this.place isn't cheap.for andalusian standards. I can eat In ikeas restaurant but this here... Cant Even compare
I've never been to a restaurant opposite to the entrance of an archaeological site that turns out to be a gem. Really nice terrace to sit on. Food rough and ready, but so well cooked. My wife said their rice with chicken (a house special like a stew) was the best thing she had eaten in Spain outside of Santiago de Compostella. High praise!
