We live locally and often eat out at lunchtime so this place made a change from the usual French plat du jour (which we love by the way) We went with friends who have been here before, and I dont think we would have walked in otherwise! The outside looks very tatty and unassuming and there is a staircase as you walk in so it looks closed - but when you get up stairs its clear that the place is very much open.We were welcomed by a lovely chap who looked after us all lunchtime. PRawn crackers were provided along with water and our wine order (nice rose, very reasonably priced) was taken. We selected the set menu at just under 13Euro per person and each had a starter, main course with plenty of rice and a dessert at that price. I ordered the nem which came with fresh lettuce and mint leaves and were really good, and then for my main course I had a spicy prawn dish. Desserts were interersting - I had the fruit which was just a selection of tinned fruit (Im not a pud fan so didnt really care) and others had the nougat and ice cream selections. Everyone left well fed and happy. The food appears to be freshly cooked, is very tasty and we had no complaints at all. Service was happy and freindly and efficient. I dont know how busy it gets here, but we were only one of two tables all lunchtime. It is heavily over furnished, and could probaby do with one or two tables coming out to make it feel a bit more open and less cluttered. As it is, the chairs are all plastic covered and the decor is very dated - but these are the only negative comments I have. We will be going back here. They also do a cheaper 3 course menu which at less than 9 Euros is quite a bargain.
