It's hard to over-state how good the food at Haydee is and how little reason there is to find fault or suggest improvements. Given the price, the range of flavours, presentation and service, the whole experience is extremely good value for money. Key highlights for us were the bespoke serving dishes which were a perfect synthesis of kitsch, charm and originality (we are told they are all commissioned from a local artisan); the highly synchronised and efficient service; the beauty and complexity of some of the dishes; and the knowledge of the servers of their wines and ability to accurately interpret the tastes of the customers. We're half way through our stay in Tenerife and not only is this the best meal to date but we don't expect it to be bettered. An utter highlight!
The food and service was excellent. The cooking is a clever mix of the traditional and innovation. The ‘long’ tasting menu includes a number of superb dishes, great ingredients and well executed cooking. In particular the tomato amuse bouche, the croquettes and the numerous starters were superb. Fish was cooked to perfection and the flavours well balanced. The only slight issue (for me) was that the goat main dish was very rich and a little too much flavour after so many other dishes and flavours. Staff were top class both knowledgable and helpful. The only surprise is that is doesn’t have a Michelin star. The cooking is as good as most 1 star restaurants.
Very short-term, we were lucky to snatch the last table at the Haydee for our New Year's Eve dinner. After a warm, authentic welcome, we had a really good, top-quality dinner with wine pairing. Each course was a creative, exciting treat we loved. The wine pairing with a focus on international wines was very good. For us, the Haydee is unrivaled in the Puerto de la Cruz area, possibly in the whole Canaries.
We highly enjoyed the friendly and rapid service, as well as visiting with the waitresses. As befits a Michelin starred restaurant, the plating was gorgeous, as were the unique vessels the dishes were served in. Each course of the tasting menu was superb, and the paired wines performed beautifully. VERY pricey, especially for the Canary Islands, but even compared to US prices.
