Decent hotel and not so good restaurant (below some comments on it . Staying there for business reasons I 've quite enjoyed it. On the plus side: Rooms are clean Superior rooms are comfortable and good looking flexibility on the breakfast (they managed to make it available earlier than normal especially for us Nice breakfast good and tasty selection Quiet Minibar small river under the old hotel building it 's super cool : Owner is a nice P Nice old building Parking On the minus side: smelly factory nearby (actually no matter where you stay in Holzminden there will be a part of this factory around, so you can 't avoid it Restaurant is heavily overpriced. I mean spirited it 's beyond ridiculous, especially considering the quality and the taste. It takes too long to catch a waiter and order something. Then you wait for the food, and you 'd better have a good talking partner or Netflix on your mobile, as it 's gonna take a long while. Even if you buy ice cream : when you start eating all the waiter suddenly start to visit your table every few minutes to ask if it 's ok, and then they disappear the moment you stop eating and think about ordering a desert magic! : Food itself in the restaurant is simply not good. It 's moderate/ok. You won 't hate it, but you surely won 't like it either. Poor choice of tiny and blunt deserts. Main courses are oversalted or Blunt or not well made. How can you sell 'our special ' selection of stakes, if it 's actually 3 pieces of crappy meat that is also overcooked? Oh, and don 't forget to mix champagne with mustard and call it 'our very special soup ', which is indeed 'special ' (yeah you 'll be eating watered mustard . there is not enough ventilation in the room new building is physically separated from the reception and breakfast place, so you need to walk ~20m outside, which is not nice on a rainy weather.

Stayed for an event at the nearby community center. Had heard how wonderful this hotel is. My friends did not lie. The most unbelievable family owned establishment. The staff for the hotel and restaurant were so accommodating. The food was as wonderful as I had heard it would be. I am from the Southern USA and we pride ourselves on hospitality. This hotel and restaurant could show places here a thing or two.
