Hoa Binh - Tisch reservieren

We came upon this place by accident and thought it was closed. When we came in, we were met by this little man, who was incredibly polite and genuinely happy to see us. He had been in France for 40 years and married a French gal. he had some great stories, and was a joy to speak with.Sat us at a table and gave us a menu. We ordered a couple soup and main dishes. He went back to cook it, and we could see that everything was homemade and reasonably fresh. When the meal came out, it was like having a home cooked meal. It was comfort food and it was a nice change from the restaurant **** that we we've been eating.Great conversation and really enjoyed talking with him. When we were leaving, he invited us to dinner the next night. Unfortunately, my girlfriend was sick, but she did want a bowl of chicken soup from him. When I went down, I felt really bad as I think he had made a really nice dinner for us. I told him that my girlfriend was ill, and he immediately made a couple chicken soup and a meal for me. There are no take out plates so he gave us the china and just said return it tomorrow.If you want a home cooked meal, at a very reasonable price, this is the place to go. No it's not a modern restaurant, it's not 5 stars or Michelin rated, but it was comfortable and turned into a really great evening and would definitely go back if we were ever in Etretat again.

This is a very interesting little restaurant. There are only seats for 18 diners. As far as I can tell, everything is cooked from scratch from fresh ingredients after the client orders. The flavours are clean and fresh, and the food is very tasty. The dishes we had were Peking soup, crab salad, prawns in curry sauce and noodles with chicken and prawns. All were very good indeed. The owner and chef is a very engaging man, unfailingly polite and with a great service ethic. He has been running this restaurant for about 40 years. Obviously he gave himself a mountain to climb, as there are many good French restaurants in Étretat, but he has survived and prospered here. Because it's so small, you would be wise to get here early or reserve a table in advance. A great experience, and not at all expensive.

We are vegetarian, which is a serious challenge in this seafood town. This cosy place is run solo by an absolutely charming older fellow who hosts and serves guests and cooks meals (for the past four decades, same place!) - and was truly interested in where we were from; this is sweet - we don't get this all the time, as an interracial couple in France. Since Hoa Binh is nowhere on the Canadian sites, we are adding it as it seems like one of the few authentic places around that actually serves non-meat dishes: we had chop suey, veggie omelette, and saute soja - they are all you can get, but this is better quality, with much better prices, and in a place that has tons more atmosphere than any of the downtown places. Strongly recommend.

Walking in the cold evening of Etretat, we noticed a small (very small!!) and comfortable place to eat...this was Hoa Binh! We ate curry chicken and pekinese soup...true taste of Asia for both dishes! We repeated the same evening, too good to leave the chance to have another curry chicken! The owner is very nice and the atmosphere is fantastic, warm and feeling to be at home. Strongly suggested, we will surely return to Hoa Binh when back in Etretat!!

Don't go here for an outstanding culinar experience, but please do go for the unexpected ambience and the charming owner who will go out of his way to make you feel welcome at his tiny (20 chairs?) restaurant. Food is a bit average but price/qualtity is not to bad,especially for lunch.
