So Hog's Breath is obviously a chain so this review is really all about the service and position of this particular restaurant, although it was also our first time to experience the new menu that has just come out.So firstly this Hog's Breath is conveniently located near the cinemas making it a great pre or post movie diner at any time of the day. Set alongside the lake it has both indoor and outdoor seating with the outdoor under cover to protect from the weather. The new menu is more interesting with options to create dishes to suit your own personal taste, and there are more healthy choices too which is great. The new menu design is not only appealing but is much easier to read/navigate so certainly full marks from that point of view. The food is as you would expect from Hogs Breath - it's fine, but nothing to get excited about. We had the wraps which are a healthier, non greasy option although they come with the pig tail fries that are salty and full of fat - the sweet potato fries are a much better healthier choice. We also had the chicken burger which is jam packed with content and is served on a brioche bun - a bit more fancy than in the old days. Amazingly however when we ordered one of the steak options they said they had RUN OUT! Surely when steak is the signature dish for this restaurant you would think they would have ample supplies. It was a Saturday night, for sure, but it was not that busy to lead to this issue. Mmm. We also ordered some starters - the garlic bread was hot and buttery and was enjoyed with no complaints. The corn on the cob however was described as blackened with chipotle sauce. From that description you would expect the corn to have been char grilled but it arrived just steamed which was disappointing - in other words there was nothing 'blackened' about it. The chipotle sauce was pretty runny, lacked punch and was also somewhat uninspiring. The service was also rather slack. Firstly they asked us what we wanted to order three times within the space of 2 minutes of sitting down - we hadn't had a chance to even read the menu. Then having ordered it took over an hour for our food to arrive. Again it was not that busy so what on earth the hold up was who knows. Then they tried to clear our plates while we were still eating!!!! For goodness sake, let people finish their meals! So, would I go back - probably not. I know it is just a regular diner but still you want some of the basics to be right and there are other restaurants on Victoria Point's lakeside that offer a better experience for the same cost.
