We were travelling from Blois to Amboise and decided to stop at Chaumont Sur Loire for lunch. The menu looked enticing and drew us in and we were not disappointed. Our server spoke English which was helpful and subsequently noted she spoke German to another group. The setting is very pleasant, looking out onto the garden, pool and across to the Loire. The dining room has had a recent refurbishment compared to the photos on here and was very warm and welcoming. Most importantly the food did not disappoint. We had the escargot and ceviche as starters and the beef and cod as mains, all of which were presented well, cooked well and thoroughly enjoyed. A very enjoyable and memorable stop on our Loire Valley tour.
Very disappointed with this restaurant. The food was poor quality for a high price. We choose a la carte and in particular the starter was not value for money and rather tasteless. The amuse bouche did not amuse the mouth at all, rather solid and not light and inviting. I have given two stars as the service was acceptable. The restaurant decor seemed rather tired as well and very different to the photo on here.
The quality and presentation of our meal was excellent. The range and choices available was very good and our 13 year old grand-daughter enjoyed the adult menu which gave her plenty of variety. The prices of the Menus was very reasonable and compared with other Restaurants we visited in 3 weeks. However we felt the quality was better at Hostellerie du Chateau.
A wonderful Logis de France hotel. Very welcoming owners who have over the past decade made this hotel even more enjoyable to spend a night or two. Very good food and hospitality too. Terrific value for money and all that's good about staying in a Logis. Thoroughly recommended.
