After reading some of the glowing reviews on this site I decided to have lunch at the Hotel-Restaurant de la Poste on a recent trip to Saint-Cergue. I seated myself at a small table near the bar and waited for a server to appear. Waited. And waited. When 15 minutes had gone by without my presence being noticed I decided to leave. I wasn't exactly invisible as I stood up and donned my outerwear and someone may possibly have shown up at this point - but one of the wait staff broke a glass, diverting their attention and confirming my suspicion that the restaurant was having an off day. I can't really review a meal I didn't have but the macaroni with cream, bacon and cheese at the cozy and friendly BasseRuche restaurant was certainly delicious.
Hotel Restaurant de la Poste has changed ownership several times over the past few years. Its a large establishment that suffers, like many other cafe/restaurants in Saint-Cergue, from the small number of convenient parking spaces in town, although this may change in the near future. The restaurant now specialises in Italian food. The new owners did a wonderful job renovating the place - although large they managed to retain its previous cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff, very good food. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the region.
This is a clean and tidy restaurant with good service. My French is limited but they were patient with 'the tourist'. My son who is a connoisseur of pizzas rated these very highly and the bruschetta to start with was laden with topping. Likewise the pizzas were generous in their size and toppings.The ambience is a little cold mainly because it is quite an open restaurant but we had no complaints and would come back again.
Called here for lunch. Lovely clean restaurant. Welcoming staff. Quality food at great prices. Have to say that the pizza I had was better than any I had in Italy.
