We were just one night on a train ride through Austria. Hotel is just a short walk from the train (Melk is not very big). Upon arrival we were met by the owner and given very helpful information about the Melk Abbey and surroundings. Rooms... Upper floor (no elevator) was clean and comfortable with windows on the square of the city. Fantastic location near restaurants and shops. The owner proposed a change to our itinerary and instead of reboarding a train to Vienna, he proposed a river cruise for a few hours to Krems, where we got a train to Vienna. The cruise was enormous. Great hotel and great service.
The room has no refrigerator. The hotel has two floors, but no elevator. The dressing room was stinking and so I had to leave my clothes in my luggage. The shower is over a narrow bathtub and with a wet shower curtain, it becomes... wet and pale. There's no tea or coffee. City taxes are added at a price of 1.60 euros per person per night. It is 10 minutes walk to the station and easily accessible. It is in a good location with easy access to the Danube and all locations.
Visiting the region for long weekend, stopped at Melk monastery for visit and found excellent lunch on main plaza. Austrian dishes with refined touch in pleasant surroundings. Delicious consume with mushroom wonton very nice. Fish and dumplings followed. Excellent service that isn't rushed. Visit with...Phillipe made us feel feel welcomed. Highly recommend.
Aufgrund des kalten und regnerischen Wetters aßen wir unser Abendessen genau im selben Hotel, in dem wir übernachtet hatten. Das Essen war gut, aber nichts, woran wir uns mit großem Verlust erinnern würden. Der Apfelstrudel mit Eis als Nachtisch wird uns noch länger in Erinnerung bleiben
