The Houdini Bar is located at the lime-width tram stop in one of the newer cinemas in the city (although due to a fire it suffered a slight delay around its large opening). The bar in the Houdini is where you can buy your drinks, snacks, light dishes and of course your movie cards. I had a small, cold beer (4.90CHF). They have several sidewalk seats. In the bar there are some bar stools and large tables and stools over the bar, a corner area with sofa seat, a seating area upstairs with floor to ceiling windows. The theatres and/or lounges can be rented. The individual cinema rooms are smaller, intimate and offer an assortment of independent, first run and other films. The Lord I spoke to at the bar spoke German and English and was very nice. The young lady at the bar was friendly and gave me the free Wi-Fi code. There are many newspapers, magazines and local flyers around the place for visitors. The place was spotless. The bathrooms were clean, but there were no paper towels in the dispenser to dry your hands so customers with toilet paper rolls. Houdini Bar is a nice quiet place at the opening before all movie visitors show up.
I love the mood and I love the atmosphere. You go in, are greeted by the cute little bar directly at the entrance where you can see your popcorn, drink and whatever people need to watch a movie comfortably. Also the service is great, everyone seems to love his job that is crazy today. The individual rooms are also really nice and cozy: there are about 7 or so seat rows, the seats are the size of a real person (also comfortable) and all guests seem to be really interested in the movie and not in a scene or just unnecessary noise. Only a great cinema and also my personal favorite.
Das Houdini Kino/Bar in Zürich ist ein beliebtes Kino und eine Bar im Stadtzentrum. Das Kino bietet eine Mischung aus Neuerscheinungen und Filmklassikern und die Bar serviert eine Auswahl an Getränken und Snacks. Der Veranstaltungsort beherbergt auch besondere Veranstaltungen und Live-Musikauftritte. Wenn Sie in Zürich sind und nach einem Ort suchen, an dem Sie einen Film sehen oder mit Freunden etwas trinken können, ist das Houdini Kino/Bar auf jeden Fall einen Blick wert.
We went on a Saturday night and wanted to buy a ticket for the last movie of the evening. The ticket sales process was a disaster (for 35 minutes in line) and the film launch was delayed. When I was happy to finally see the movie, I entered a sauna. The hall 5 was extremely warm and without ventilation system.
