We drive past Lake Almanor on an RV trip and this place was recommended by some locals. I tried several times to make reservations with phone at 6:00, but no one took it up so that we decided to drive 10 miles to try our luck. Upon arrival, the main hostess had the least courtesy and most haste to find reasons not to sit us, including the assumption that we tried to make online reservation I did not online, she said. Good. I didn't want to argue, we just wanted dinner, so I asked a reservation then. We had deliberately selected that they saw that they had a terrace with outside entrance, so we could sit there with our 9 months old pup. They had many tables available there, but she refused to sit us, now quotes no pets allowed. A beautiful spot. But the way our experience went, we let ourselves unite and confused, with no avenue to call forward, and with a hostess that did not hear ' mostly 'talking'. This is unfortunately a pattern that I see post COVID hosts too busy to remember why they are there first: to care for their guests, not to flickunt their ego. The world needs a little more kindness. Not so that people like me can sit inappropriately, but so we will understand ourselves without assumptions. To the woman in question, I would like to share Maya Angelous's famous quote in... I will never forget how you feel me. Blessing for you and your business a little empathy will give you a long way if only you are ready to 'listen'.
