This is one of a couple if not the only Lebanese charcoal chicken restaurant in Castle Hill. They do a very good takeaway trade as well. Parking is plentiful in the back council car park and customers can walk through to the restaurant from the back. In winter it could get a bit cold in the patio area but they have gas heaters available. Service is very friendly. A jug of ice water was provided. The garlic dip was YUM!! We ordered the cauliflower floret and lamb sambusik for entree. Both were delicious and very addictive. For mains we shared a mixed platter and a quarter chicken. I loved the chicken and beef skewers in the mixed platter. All the meats were tender and well marinated/seasoned. The tabouli, pickle and hommous went well with the meats. The meal came with Lebanese bread.
Food used to be great at this venue however cost cutting in my view has meant scaling back on quality and this is always going to come at a cost.The chips are no longer served in a nice cardboard box for takeaway which means they are soggy when you arrive home.The chicken is very dry as others have mentioned which is a shame. In my view they have gone down to a smaller chicken and cooking time has remained same.The biggest issue I have with this place is the owner. He always seems to be in a bad mood and cranky. 0/10 for customer service.Move him to the back of kitchen and let him focus on quality of food again I say !
When you walk into this restaurant and see the charcoal chicken on the spit, your mouth starts to water. Then, when you taste the dry chicken, your senses take a beating! My two star rating is for the chips - i mean, you have to work quite hard to stuff this up.
We bought the meat platter containing 3 skewers, bread, dips etc. We bought 2 of those take away meals for $50. Considering what we got that seems expensive. It barely fed 4 people. Easy parking in Dan Murphy's across the road.
