We arrived after a big walk on the Camino starving at 9pm and found this oasis in the Old Town. We were given a great welcome and loved the Ceres red wine recommendation. Cheese board with Manchego and quince delicious and thought the garlic prawns were the best until the grilled chicken arrived the piece de resistance! So flavourful. Capped off with port was an amazing meal. Don’t miss it!
Bayona has many fine places to eat. Jaqueyvi is frequented by locals and you may need to wait for a table. Their tapas plates are excellent ... particularly like the cheese and ham platters. The sweets are excellent ... try a selection platter. The expensive Rioja's are served decanted and with great care. This is always a stop when moored at the Monte-Real Club for lunch or dinner.
Visited this restaurant for the second time. We came back because we remembered the good food and wine. It was still there, but this time the service was appaling. We felt as if we were a nuisance. Had it not been for a young waitress, who was trying her best to make up for the pissy comments and rude behavour of the other staff, the rating would have been even poorer.
Both ordered grilled squid was perfect, lovely friendly waitress, her English ten times better than our Spanish. Wonderful lunch on a beautiful autumn day. House white wine exceeded our expectation. Recommend this establishment
