My husband and myself eat at this hotel regularly when staying in nearby Rohan. We usually have the set menu dinner which offers excellent value for money and is great for diners on a tight budget. There's no choice but for around 12 euros from Monday to Thursday you get four (yes four) courses except on the night they serve Couscous which is delicious and filling so you don't get a starter. The house wine is six euros a bottle (that's a full bottle not a demi carafe) and there's cheese and dessert to follow the main course. Ok, this is not haut cuisine; it is simple, fare and the a la carte menu is available if you want something different. The plateau de fruit de mer on the a la carte is a definite for seafood lovers. The restaurant itself is large and lacks atmosphere in the evening because there are few diners. Staff have limited English so don't expect to have the menu translated for you. You should get out the door with a bill around 36 euros including apertifs and coffee. It's not Michelin standard and not Michelin price, just straightforward grub at a fair price.
We have visited a number of times over tge last few years, but not so often as it is not a treat. Always Sunday Lunch, it is necessary to book to be certain of a table. Allow upto an hour to eat the Plate de fruite de mer, half a crab each, lagoustine, prawns, whelks abd winkles, frssh mayonnaise, and crusty bread. For the main course (yes the main) Magret de canard, filet of beef, or fish, then green salad and a variety of cheese (let down by too much dressing), then a choice of desserts or pastries. All for 28.50euro To accompany the meal a bottle of their own label vin de table at 7 euros. Go on treat yourself.
We had our last evening meal here. What a treat. The fish and langoustine were amazing. We paid less for this meal than steaks and poor burgers elsewhere. Giles is fantastic mixing cocktails when you give him the recipe. Cannot recommend enough.
Very affordable menus, good value quality prices. Smiling, friendly and dynamic staff. I recommend.
