Johnny's Italiano

This was my first time I lived in Reno for 22 years! The waiter was fabulous and made me this cocktail that had Balsamico vinegar, strawberries (or raspberries - I can't remember and black pepper. That was delicious, so if you get an opportunity to try that then you go for it! Well, for dinner, that's the only problem I had is another story. I had this chicken dish with mozzarella, prosciutto and artichokes and it was pretty good. It's not something I'd tell someone they have to try, but it was pretty good. But my problem was with the vegetables. They should be roasted (a beautiful mixture of broccoli, onions, carrots, etc.), which I randomly love, but in reality they were burned. Now I can handle the vegetables that are a little overcooked, but that was beyond and whole garlic cloves were roasted with it. Now I love garlic so much if not more than the next person, but I don't want to bite in great CLOVES from him and certainly not burned cloves! I think if they're offering a page of vegetables easy to offer some vegetables, then maybe that's why they were presented in this way. But if the intention was that the vegetables were just as good as the duck, then it was a big mistake. My proposal would be to go only the roasted vegetables and for the Caesar salad upgrade. That was excellent!!! Overall, it was nice to finally try this restaurant as I heard so many good things about it, but it would not be my first choice. The service and the atmosphere are good, but unfortunately the food was not the star of the evening.

We were there for our birthday on Wednesday night. I mentioned that when I made my reservation weeks in advance. We arrived early, so the hostess suggested we wait in the bar. We sat at an open table for two. When it was time to go to our table, the hostess on the upper floor sat with a view of half a truck on the parking lot. I asked if we could sit in the lower room that seemed special. She said no, these open tables were for people with reservations. I said we had reservations too! She asked if we could wait, and we said yes. We went back to the table in the bar where we sat before. The hostess came by and told us rudely that we cannot sit there. She sent us to a waiting area. Your negative attitude has really set a bad tone for the rest of the evening. Our waitress was nice, but she couldn't give us the time of day. I asked if she knew it was my birthday and she said yes, but would not have recognized it if I hadn't picked it up. The food was very good, but everything else that we treated was ruined the evening for us. We're not coming back.

The food here is absolutely amazing, I celebrated my birthday dinner and at least 7 times ate here. Your service is so terrible when you see under 22 I swear every time I go here, they seem to get our order fast enough, but we always get our food last! The people next to us who ordered after us would already be done, eat and we wouldn't have our ducks or even the soup that comes with him yet. I wish I knew why, but it's so every time!!

Be sure to call ahead for reservations. Enjoyed their minestrone and eggplant Parmigiano dish, melanzane. Very large portions, took leftovers back to hotel. Husband had steak topped with onions, bell peppers, marinara, and cheese. Served with polenta and veggies. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal. We got the cheesecake w/ hot fudge. Pleasant atmosphere. Ask for a table by the windows. Beautiful views.

I hope to be hired here!? It is very similar to the place where I worked on the coast of San Mateo (South of SF) . I love it and serve it! The manager and his team are super nice and the guests are tempted and true.... mostly regular. From what I heard, the food is not one! It is not better than that!!! Finger crossed..
