La Bastide De Moustiers

I must be a food snob ,or just a plain snob, because I was disappointed with the food at this one star restaurant. Although the first dish the so called amuse-bouche was a stunning mix of wonderful flavors, things went downhill from there. The appetizer was gnocchi with chanterelles topped with little strips of bacon, albeit crisp ones. For someone like me who lives in the US, the bacon was a bit of a let down! The main course was three tough pieces of turbot that had gotten cold with a mix of nice vegetables swimming in a thin sauce of some kind. The dessert constitutes of cooked and fresh figs with a bland cream and an equally bland ice cream on the side. The espresso was acidic the boulangerie in the tiny village of Escragnolles served far superior coffee. So, mo, I was not impressed. The setting, however, is lovely. The waitresses were attentive and pleasant.

The main course was three hard pieces turbot, which had become cold with a mix of beautiful vegetables that swim in a thin sauce of any kind. The dessert represents boiled and fresh figs with a blande cream and an equally blasphemy ice cream on the side. The espresso was sour the Boulangerie in the small village of Escragnolles served far superior coffee. So I wasn't impressed. But the setting is beautiful. The waitresses were attentive and pleasant.
