It was Thursday 3rd January and we were heading for a restaurant in Laparade but it was closed. Tried another on my list in Le Temple but that was closed too. Realised that it was the first week of the year and people were still on holiday. Reluctantly headed for Villeneuve where we were sure to find a restaurant open. This place was on the side of the main road and there were cars in the car park, so we stopped great find! I still can't find a translation of the name Cagouille but I guessed it was something to do with snails/sea food as the decor was very fishy. It was jolly busy, not surprisingly, as it was the only place open for miles. It's quite a compact restaurant and not a lot of room between the tables. We were asked if we had booked, but as we hadn't, they quickly made up a table. The menu was traditional French but no snails! Only one menu available but it was a special day nothing we couldn't eat, meat or fish dishes. Good service from a rather grumpy man but we did manage to get a smile out of him before we left. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there were no snails on the menu but perhaps I'll try again on an ordinary week day.
