I was visiting Vf with my family and we were looking for a dinner location. A local shop owner pointed us towards La Garnatxa, which I also noted when driving along the aim road of Vf. We had lamb shoulder (excellent , duck quarter (very good but small perhaps a local farm duck as it was called de Penedes , patatas bravas for a starter (reasonable portion . I had 2 beers, wife took a glass of Penedes. Altogether €37. Yes, you could probably eat cheaper in a classical bar, but we have not found any open were a bit tired of this special cheap bar atmosphere. Service was OK, some free jamon was very nicely offered. Of course, La Garnatxa is not a memorable place like the similar caliber restaurants of Pamplona or Caceres, it is maybe missing a special character however in my opinion it is a firm 4 for quality and price.
We found ourselves stopping in Vilafranca twice within 5 days while traveling down and back up the coast. We also found ourselves stopping at this little restaurant both times. We had luncheon set menus and could not have been happier. The wine was delicious as well as every plate they served us. Second time around we chose the black rice and followed it with quail for me and typical Catalan veal cheek for my husband. It was amazing. The wait staff is very pleasant, the coffee is good and strong. We were well taken care of at a good price and back on the road feeling happy with our decision to return to the place we'd just been 5 days before.
I had no good references of this restaurant but I had a dinner alumni of EGB and the organizer of the dinner told me that it had been renovated and was now well. The local is beautifully decorated all new and have a small but correct terrace. The food was fine, nothing remarkable but correct and the service was a little overflowed, for example the wine served hot but then they brought us ice buckets with ice... Overall good.
Best menu quality/price relation of the tawn, home made and catalan dishes for 10 € , and a la carte they cook good fish tapas and dishes at a fair price and with good quality fish.
