We visited Roubaix on a Sunday as we wanted to visit the 'La Piscine' museum (Great, by the way!). We could find very little open when we researched before we left, so winged it. This restaurant looked closed as we walked from the Euroteleport Tram stop, but we did a double take as we saw groups of people heading straight for it.Really pleased we did. Service was friendly enough and there was some English spoken but, to be honest, as we are in FRANCE that is not expected. Plus, we tend to avoid places which are overly English as that is not why we are in France!Food was very good - Steak with dauphinois and Scallops (St Jacques) with Frites.Got busier as we were there, mainly with people 'of a certain age' (50s probably) but seemed to be a place for locals and family meals.Would definitely return if we're in Roubaix again.

We were looking for a steak tartare. Or tartare de boeuf as they call it here. As a lot of other restaurants were either closed on the rainy Valentine's Eve, or only had a Valentine menu, we ended up here. The menu looked good, the tartare met expectations and the establishment had an air of 'The Lobster' ( see imdb) over it.Just the service was off. Getting your first drinks after your main course is just not the right order. And yes, we would like to see the neighbours' table cleaned up after they leave. But then again, maybe this was all part of the bigger Lobster plan. And a PS: the fries were not crunchy.

I hate in France you have to flag down to a waiter/waitress to sit down. No one really speaks English. This was no different. After getting passed around I was then sat down. As a vegetarian there was only one thing I could eat. I ordered it. It was actually very very nice. Once I was sat down; the service was not bad at all. However it's the awkwardness that leads up to it. I give this a 4, because of the food and the service once you're sat down. Most restaurants in France will be getting 2s or 3s.Give it a go.

On a weekend in Lille we went to Roubaix primarily to visit the Art Deco Swimming Pool/Art Museum but had time for an early lunch before the opening. By a coincidence, a nice lady in the IBIS coffee shop highly recommended this Brasserie. So off we went and were warmly greeted by Marie Anne and her colleagues. Often I can only eat starter dishes and so I made my choice - a local speciality of cheese, toast and provencal tomato sauce - to die for! Everything else was lovely, too. Thank you, Marie Anne!
