La Grappe d'Or - Tisch reservieren

Before going into it, my husband and I had dinner at Au Trotthus last night and it was AMAZING. If you are considering between the two, go there - much better food, fantastic service, and same price point. No competition. Now, for the good stuff - we arrived at 6:45pm asking if we could return at 7:30. The server said no and that 7 is the last time we could get in for dinner, so we obliged (scare tactics of a small town restaurant on a Sunday night, I should think!). They kept letting new customers in well past 8, as we later discovered. The food in all honesty was ok, but the main course was quite bland and much salt had to be added to balance it out. For the quality of service it was worth half of what we were charged. I caught the staff a few times speaking under their breath about us (It was a hot night and I was not wearing a bra, so perhaps that threw them off a bit) and we felt very unwelcome. In conclusion, go to Au Trotthus OR Au Cerf RIGHT next door, which has great service - we are here now in fact to eradicate the memories of our very overpriced dinner. Best regards and if you're a foodie take my advice, go elsewhere.

We definately had one of our better dinner experiences at Grappe d'Or. The athmosphere it cozy and the walls are filled with old wine attributes. On top of this the dinner was superb. This restaurant does not offer the normal heavy Alsacian food but more delicate dishes with an Alsacian touch. I had a warm Munster cheese with a very tasty salad as a starter. As main dish we had the Monkfish with tomato sauce. We were skeptical about the tomato sauce but it was really well cooked and was a perfect match with the fish. When it comes to the wines they offer good Alsacian wines at very descent prices. Some other guests complain about the service level but the ladies who took care of us were very alert and service minded. We will most definately go back!

We found the service to be very good here, whilst you could have a set menu here we were grateful that we could chose just to have one or two dishes. We had a table in Le Caveau section of the restaurant this had a cosy atmosphere. I thought the food was good we just had two mains, a dessert and a carafe of wine, the restaurant is right next door to the Hotel L'Oriel.

We would certainly visit again, the food was flawless. Lovely setting. Had to ask a few times for the water we'd ordered and never got the cooler for the lovely Alsace wine we had, despite asking a few times. Consequently it was warm before we finished it. Did make a complaint but it seemed to fall on deaf ears (we do speak French, so that wasn't the issue).

We thought the food and service were both great. Not over-priced. The set menu was very good value. We would go again.
