On a recent visit to the Three Valleys we arrived at lunchtime on a beautiful day. Now I should emphasise that throughout our stay friend lives in Courchevel 1650 the hospitality and welcome across the resorts was exemplary. . . With one exception, yes you’ve guessed it, well they say with Marmite you either love it or hate it well I’d avoid this place like the plague. I arrived first and requested a table for four. Conversation went Grumpy waitress : what ? Me: would you have a table for four in French GW: there Me: Merci For the next twenty minutes we are ignored No drinks no carafe of water, no basket of bread as given to other tables who came after us Eventually I asked for three beers and a soft drink and a carafe of water another 10minutes by this time my friends have as big a grump on as the very grumpy waitress, perhaps the grumpiness is catching. Anyway one friend asks for a menu dish to be explained if possible in English big mistake GW: huff puff sigh walk off We decide to go and eat elsewhere so when GW returns we ask for the bill! As if by magic GW can now speak fluent rude English and grumpy has turned to grumpy and humpy. Another 10 minutes and we stand to leave only then does the €50 bill appear. Do yourselves a favour folks, find somewhere else, anywhere else to eat in the Three Valleys, it’s friendly and beautiful and not always expensive But stay away from here as if the hounds of hell were chasing you !
