The service was poor, they speak only french, and although my french isn't too bad they screwed up several times. For starters the kids could not order the nuggets of croque monsieur with fries solely. It had to be ordered in the menu. So they got a awfull tomato crème thing with ketchup sauce for starters. The accompanying drink never came. The kids quiz placemets only came before the dessert, which they screwed up aswell; we asked for 3 times icecream , chocolat and twice the vanilla. They came with chocolat and twice a soft white cheese! They were affronted when we asked for the vanilla ice we ordered. My wife had a menu aswell. She asked for the frommage, but because they had sent 2 soft white cheese desserts for the kids, they didnt bother anymore And assumed that my wife was happy with this one. I ordered the tournedos, rear. It definitely was ****, but Also hard to chew. Fortunatly I have good jaw muscles and teeth. The time it took from entering, ordering, serving the courses was over 2 hours. With kids aged 3-7 that is quite long, even for southern standards. Then the bill; it took over 25 minutes for them to sum it all up, shouting between the "chef" and the waitress who ignored my wife. She looked and even Walked away during conversation. We Will never return here, such arrogance we have only encountered in Paris, but at least the food and atmosfere there are good.
We were a group of 8 family and friends travelling along the canals in France in our ‘self-drive’ anal boat. We stopped for the night in Decize and were looking for a restaurant for dinner.We came across Gail and her husband Pascale outside their restaurant La Rainette. They were unpacking their car after a holiday away and unfortunately their restaurant wasn’t open. But they started telephoning around the town to various restaurants that they knew to see where we could get a booking for 8 people. Gail made a reservation for us but this was going to be in about an hours’ time. They invited us in (all 8) and opened bottles of champagne and rose and together with their large family we enjoyed an incredible time with this welcoming French family. It was my sister Kerry’s birthday and discovered it was Gail’s the following day – so Happy Birthday was sung to both. Gail has a beautiful voice and we then realised that their restaurant also has Karaoke – everyone was singing and having a lovely time.When it was time for us to go to dinner, Pascale and his son-in-law took us in 2 cars to our restaurant.Our whole group just couldn’t believe how friendly and welcoming the family was to Australian’s that they had just met.
After being turned away from 2 restaraunts because we had not made a reservation,although neither place was busy and had plenty of empty tables,we used Trip Adviser to find this restaraunt.They welcomed us without a problem and showed us to a table immediately. The meal we ordered was very very good and good value. So good,in fact,that we went back on the next evening,a Saturday,and again they accomodated us.
Visited with friends to celebrate a birthday. We had a very nice meal, in pleasant surroundings with helpful staff and a lovely proprietress. Will happily go back!
