A business lunch by recommendation from local hosts. On the preview tour for locals chateaus and restaurants we ended the tour for lunch and were overwhelmed by the honest food, great service and high quality in the wine list. The atmosphere is relaxed but not suitable for muscle shirts and tank tops. The service was welcoming and they even set a new table outside to fulfil my request on bringing my dog.For lunch the restaurant serves a set menu of starter, main, cheese and dessert. All courses put together by traditional elegant classic French cuisine from the old days, where all ingredients were to be traceable and transparent in every bite of each dish. The chief (Jean-Paul Lecroq) makes it an honour for the guest to approach the dinner easily though the dishes are complex in both technique and composition. The starter was courgettes flower stuffed with egg plant caviar with Norway lobster and a rich juice made on shellfish. The dish was very simple in ingredients but the texture in combination with the richness of flavour from the main ingredients made it impeccable. The main was a walk over of traditional pork that one seldom finds outside France. Most honourable was the variation of "pieds a cochons". (Pigs trotter). For dessert two sets: One with fresh strawberries and a jam and one with cherries and a sorbet. Both fruits are in season hence the natural choice. The cheese table was well-assorted and surprisingly local with goat, sheep and cow. For wine my companion chose a special treat to follow this unexpected exclusive lunch, and we enjoyed the good and respectful service of Sandrine Lecroq, who carefully and with respect ensure the best circumstances for us to enjoy the Henri Bonneau, 2007. This is a place I shall ensure to return to and bringing friends, family and business to share this seldom exclusive experience of food, surroundings and personality.

Friends told us about this restaurant. It is located in the center of a kind of ghost city, as streets are desperatly empty at twilight. As soon as you enter the restaurant the atmosphere changes : nice and friendly. There were about 10 to 12 tables in the garden, all occupied.Three menus are suggested from 32 € to 62 €. We chose the 52 € menu made of an entrée (small slices of angus beef with summer truffles, a turbot or flounder with a nice sauce, then a filet of lamb, closing with a large cheese buffet and a dessert. The menu was preceded by two sets of appetizers and ended with two sets of small desserts. We pointed that considering the texture of meats, they did not seem to be frost products. The wine list is very generous made of a large variety of wines with a large range of prices. We started with two cups of champagne wine (11 € each), then a glass of local wines, white and red, quoted respectively 5 and 6 € each.Service was present and smiling, thus the total time for the service was just a little more than 2 hours. We think we will come back in the future, sure not to eat the same meals as menus change every week.

We came here for lunch during a day of wine-tasting in Provence. It was a fantastic meal. They have the best house-made bread (that kept coming and coming). We were basically told what we would be given to eat and that made it easy - to just trust the experts. Our courses came a great pace - we didn't feel rushed (not that the French would ever rush your meal) or that we waited too long between plates. Had an impressive Bresse chicken wrapped lobster starter and a perfectly cooked-to-order steak. Then the cheese cart came - super special local cheeses, followed by two desserts. The value was unbelievable. I would definitely want to come back for dinner here!

We had lunch here with a large group. The food was amazing in taste and presentation. The service was efficient and very friendly. The outdoor dining area is quite serene and shaded. People took pictures of every course...they were beautiful. This is worth seeking out if you are in the Avignon area. Anyone who expects fast service in France is missing the cultural differences between dining in France and dining in the US. The service is supposed to be unobtrusive and you often have to ask for a check because they do not want to rush you out the door.
