La Table du Gourmet

We had a lovely dinner at La Table du Gourmet. It was such a pleasure to walk from our little hotel at Le Sarment d'Or over to the restaurant and have a leisurely evening in such a quiet town (after the tour buses clear out during the day!). We were one of the earlier reservations so the restaurant was fairly quiet when we sat down. They asked if we wanted a glass of the local champagne and we said yes and were given our menus and we choose the smaller tasting menu as in France they tend to give heavy portions! We chose correctly and started out with some really fun amuse bouche, I really loved the rollup, I believe it was beet! And then some lovely fresh bread and beautiful Lobster broth with a huge chunk of lobster! It was divine! Next we moved onto a colorful salad with haircot verts, eel and watermelon. The flavors were fantastic and it beautiful to look at! Then we had our fish course, which I don't remember what kind and a vegetable risotto. The vegetable risotto was a little bit of a let down as it had no pasta, but actually vegetables cut up as "risotto", which is fine and I'm sure some people love it. Then we had duck basically three ways and OMG it was amazing! The mousse and then the crispy breast and the tender breast, all of it was amazing!! One of my favorites! And the dessert was probably one of the lightest, most fresh and flavorful I've ever had and it was BEAUTIFUL to look at! LOVED it! We also had the wine pairings which I adored because they were all from Alsace and what could be more special than that?! I also loved the little clown that dispensed the cute chocolates and such at the end.The staff was very pleasant and attentive and the kitchen staff looked very friendly - I loved that you caught a glimpse of them coming in and leaving the restaurant. I would definitely recommend dinner here as it was a very fun experience and the food was delightful!!

First let me put things in perspective. We are regular visitors of Michelin star restaurants. We know ambiance and perfection does not come cheap. But we do expect ambiance and perfection (or at least something that comes close to perfection). This was not. Far from it. I do not eat everything. This has never been a problem before. However, I do expect that people ask if there are any allergies or things you don't eat. They did not. I pointed to the lobster and told them I was allergic to seafood. I am not actually, but I always say I am because I really don't like it. The appetizers were served and voila, lobster! I told them this cannot happen, they did not say a thing. No apologies, nothing. The food was fine, but nothing special. I had beef as a main course which was not very warm. Told the waitress, again, nothing. I got 4 local wines for 45 euro. Wines were a good fit to the food, but glasses were not properly filled. Nobody asked if we liked an extra glass of wine with the dessert. I would have loved to.At the end I again told them giving lobster to someone who told she is allergic is not acceptable. The waitress told me to them lobster is not seafood, although I pointed out the lobster. After telling her I expected an apology, one was given. Never coming back here.

We went here, as we have been visiting this place several times before and food and service have been excellent.We ordered the big menu and followed by the suggested wine menu.Amuses and food was very creative and tasted fantastic, but unfortunately the serving went totally wrong, here some examples:They do not have soda water only juices and as we don't want to serve alcohol for our 15 year old daughter, so she have to drink sparkling water all eveningThe wine waiter talked to us in child language and in general talked down to usThere was a lot of wine flies in the restaurant which went into our glasses, this was "fixed" with that they came with a spoon so we could take the flies out by our self and then they come with a paper cover we could put on top of our glasses - IN A MICHELIN STAR RESTAURANT????In general we are disappointed, not about the food, but the remaining set-up and for sure, no place else than France they will get a Michelin star, if they still have it

So lovely place in a lovely town, we wanted to experience a Michelin star awarded restaurante and the surprise was amazing! We were very well received and the menu was beautiful and interesting. More than a lunch, an experience.

One of the best restaurants in Alsace. Great ambiance and value for money. Impeccable but friendly service. Not to be missed!
