The setting is in Old Government House in Parramatta Park west of Sydney a 20 minute walk from Parramatta station (limited restricted parking on site). We used a Cudo voucher ($99) for 2 people for the 4 course Trust the Chef menu incl a glass a champs. You don't know what you will get which is great fun. We dined on Sunday for lunch. The food was high quality and 3 courses were vegetarian + desert. We thought a meat/chicken course was needed but by the end of the meal we were happy without it. Each course was beautifully presented. We thought that the soup followed by a soupy noodle dish was too much soup. But the flavours were delicious and on the mild side.The negative for us was the seating. Although we were seated outside on the verandah where the setting was delightful, we were very cold. We didn't realise until we left that there were gas heaters on the verandah. It would have been great if someone offered to turn it on. Which brings me to the service. As there was a set menu, we were served by at least 5 different people. There was no explanation of the courses which I expected given it was a chef's menu. The food was just placed down. It was not personal at all. There was also a steady stream of people passing thru as there were 2 large functions happening.I would go again but probably for high tea which looked fab. Al la carte is available.
my family and I had high tea at Old Government House recently. It was sensational - best food and service. Nothing was too much trouble for the team and the variety and quality of food& beverages (champagne, tea, coffee) served was great. There was ample parking and indoor and outdoor seating. I really lovely setting - terrific atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit - especially for the scones!
This period building offers fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful food, (we chose "trust the chef" lunch) and were not disappointed! Friendly staff and just a lovely occasion. 15 mins. walk from Parramatta station, and while we were there, we took a guided tour through Old Government house which was very enjoyable and informative. A great day!
Ich hatte meine Hochzeit im Festzelt in Lachlans und war so beeindruckt von dem Essen und dem Service. Absolut lecker alles, was ich gegessen habe. Die Kellner waren aufmerksam und reizvoll. Der historische Standort bietet den Kulisse für ein Ambient-Mittag- oder Abendessen und ich kann es kaum erwarten, wieder hierher zu gehen.
