This is just the greatest place to go for tapas and wine. Both are incredibly cheap (typically 2€ for a large glass and less than 1€ per substantial tapas) and the surroundings are wonderful. The bar, in the old horse stables underneath part of the Anaya University, is a wide brick barrel-vault and the atmosphere is very local. The customers are mostly people meeting up for a chat or having a quiet drink or coffee after work. It is busy but there is high turn-over so it is easy to get a table. We went every evening we were in Salamanca.
My wife and I found this place on the walk from our hotel to the University. The café is run by the University and has some very good food and low prices, There were many people standing and sitting at small tables in the bar area but we chose to sit in the back at a lunch table and order off the menu. We had a large cured meat and cheese platter , large Enselada Mixta , bread, desert and 8 glasses of wine for a total of 32 euro. Then stumbled back to the hotel and took a nap. A perfect afternoon
Stumbled upon this very local bar. In the evening they only serve 3 types of bocadillos and some wonderful local wines or beers. Oh, and crisps. That's it! It was packed with the great good of Salananca and the space is totally unique. Great experience.
I loved this restaurant! The service was amazing, food was incredible, amazing atmosphere and really good prices!! I highly recommend! Its a very authentic Spanish cafe/restaurant
