L'auberge De La Place

The restaurant overlooks the small square, bedecked with flowers and with a central fountain and church in background, of this delightful 'portes dorees ' Beaujolais village. The good value 18 euro set lunch for three courses offers two choices for first and main. I took a cassolette of shelled mussels in a creamy sauce, served with side salad, delicious. For the main course I was hoping for fish but they had run out (by 13h) so I took the alternative of grilled skewered beef served with bulgur wheat and diced vegetables and mushrooms. A dessert of nice chocolate mousse rounded this off. The food was faultless, the fish disappointment aside. Service was friendly but a bit disorganised. It took a while to be seated, and I was not automatically offered a jug of water; when it came, it was without ice (on a hot day). I was promised a spoon for the mussel sauce, but it never came; the same thing happened with the second basket of bread. There was also a mini plague of flies on the outside terrace; a customer 's dog valiantly tried to nab them, but I would suggest putting some device outside to catch or zap them. Despite these hiccups, I would strongly recommend this restaurant.

Lunch, that very French affair not a snack, not a quick bit and off to wherever, this Lunch with the capital L. Small menu, well executed, beautifully presented and full of flavour food! The term 'Plat du Jour ' undersells this in most restaurants in Beaujolais and L 'Auberge de la Place is no exception. We had an unhurried lunch with just the need to choose wine and select between the options on the menu not stressful and well worth a second visit I think we 'll go for an evening which means A la carte... For the disabled I didn 't use my wheelchair but could have it would have needed a few diners to move for us to get to our table but I 've never had a problem with that. The toilet is adapted and the bar and restaurant are on one level with no steps. I think the restaurant has an upstairs, but that 's not for us. The town has dropped curbs and the entrance is wide, although this is a hilly place so you might need a hand/push. I 'll use the wheelchair next time!

Nice and simple place with very good homemade local food. Friendly and efficient owners do the service. Fast too. Good for a relaxed bite in a beautiful Pierres Dorées region village. If you enjoy Beaujolais Villages food and wines, try it.

Small but pretty place in the Beaujolais Pierres dorées. Simple menu but quality and excellent cooking. We loved the very friendly servie as well as the quality of food. To discover if you don't know it!!!!

Exactly what we were looking for on our romantic vacation. Suggest reservations. Chef is amazing. Maki, duck, fish, chocolate and fig desserts all outstanding.
