"There is uncomplicated good food but with a little flair. We were not given a menu but shown the blackboard, which of course, was only in French. The carafe of wine is more expensive than at other places, but then it was a better quality. This is a bistrot for the French, but they welcome all."

Stopped here early evening after a trip to the Louvre. Sat outside for drinks- staff were very friendly and things were very relaxed. The little area around this place has a genuine neighbourhood vibe- a park opposite and a little supermarket alongside meant lots of locals going about their business to watch. Moving inside for a bit of warmth the menu of the day looked tempting and locals started appearing to take tables and order food. The downstairs is a bar / bistro atmosphere, there is a room set up as a more restaurant character upstairs but it wasn't in use when we were there. I'm sure all the food was good- simple fare well prepared. We had seafood starters and for mains, a cod and risotto dish and a lamb and vegetable stew. No room left for dessert as we had had three courses for lunch at Bouillon Chartier! I had a glass of wine recommended by the staff (€5) which was one of the best I had in my time in Paris. So- not formal in terms of atmosphere or food, and not one of those classic areas of Paris you feel you need to tick off, but a great little neighbourhood spot that will stick in the memory as a genuine and pleasant French experience.

my wife had fancied moules & frites which were on the black board menu, the lady inside saw us looking at the menu and encouraged us in. She was very friendly, we then discovered no moules but instead salmon( my wife does not eat meat), ok, we are installed so let's go with it. The onion soup lacked any flavour and the starter described as ' lentil salad with vinaigrette' was literally a tin of lentils microwaved. Served hot - a salad? Worse was to follow, the salmon was substituted for 'coley', again microwaved and inedible. The duck was fatty served with a creamy pepper sauce. The owner offered us a dessert by way of an apology and we had an apricot tart, yet again microwaved and served hot! We left passing the many other full restaurants and felt so disappointed. Have a drink there but don't eat!

We visited one evening for a bite and so enjoyed ourselves. With very friendly service, good bistro food and fab music you can't go far wrong! The wine we were recommended came complete with a personal recommendation from the vineyard owner himself who was on the next table! A lovely touch. The dining room with a 30s/40s theme has intimate feel. The atmosphere during which we dined was particularly lovely on a Saturday when we enjoyed Andre Quate and jazz blues! Good food and great music- enjoy.

We have so far visited 4 times, 2 for drinks and 2 for dinner. It's very close to our hotel, and so very convenient. The staff are very friendly, and welcome us as friends whenever we go in. The food is delicious, as expected in France, but very casual. The owner calls out, "see you tomorrow!" when we leave. They are very patient with non-French speakers, and always make us feel welcome.
