Went here 3 times for a pit stop drink and sat in the sun and enjoyed. We were actually their last guests of the season for lunch at the end of April. We had only planned another quick drink pit stop but a half litre of house white accompanied by (complimentary) a plate of dried meats persuaded us to stay for lunch; well the snow was wet sugar and not that interesting. Another half litre of white and a half litre of red and two plates of crossiflette later; oh and two games of scrabble we were almost ready to help with the stocktaking! The position just off the piste is super (they have they own pistenbully to clear the path to the puB0 and the place is simple and clean. Small menu of local food and a big welcome awaits. Also great value; from memory a half litre of house wine was around 8 euros.
We saw this place on the chair lift and thought it would make an ideal lunch stop. We were greeted quite directly and soon found out they had very little food available. When looking at the menu we were chastised by the rudest man in the Porte de soleil, unfortunately he worked there and undone all the good work another guy was trying to do. The salad was drowned in vingarette and the omelette was average. Go for the location but not the food or service. A sad let-down.
We waited half an hour before even receiving a menu. There were not enough servers but those that were there were concentrating on a few tables and ignoring the rest. Half an hour later, so an hour after sitting down we had not even had a drink. When we pointed this out, politely in our best English way, there was no apology just a shrug of the shoulders. I have been skiing for many years and I know how busy these restaurants can be but there was no excuse for this.
Beautiful location, ski in, ski out, understaffed, therefore service was slow. Very rude to clients generally, plenty of slamming chairs around. Such a shame as the food, when it arrived was nice, but quite expensive.
