If you want a French food experience that is authentically French and sourced locally you will need to only come to this place. Set in the heart of the old town the Bouche a Oreille is a charming and delightful place to eat. Run by...a highly experienced and passionate couple who design a menu on an monthly rotation from the best produce they find locally. I had the vinegar cooked fish served with pieces of fruit and vegetables followed by the duck. Neither was predicable and I was given a new twist with the combination of tastes and exquisite presentation. The wines were carefully chosen and very reasonably priced. The menu gave us options for vegetarians and the deserts were outstanding. Really well worth booking and making a visit.
Dinky little bistro with a friendly and homely feel. The menu is limited to choices for starter and main course and depends on what is in the market that day. Good selection of wine (well, it is France with a ready supply and the...food was very tasty. Nice ambience also and if your French isn't quite up to scratch that's not a problem, the staff can speak English! Would suggest booking as it's quite small and gets filled up quickly.
No shortage of good restaurants in Joyeuse ! Had diner here twice and particularly the first time was brilliant with probably the best Risotto I've had to date. As a starter I had a casserole de chevre, which was very much like a cheese fondue....Followed by a delicous risotto and yummie Tiramisu with Marron ice cream. Friendly service as well, so no reason not to come back :
We arrived late but the welcome was charming and the dishes were inventive and delicious, using local ingredients. Situated in the narrow, historic streets of Joyeuse, the interior decor was cosy and authentic.
