This is a small but very pleasant restaurant. The service was friendly and efficient, with the waitress very happy to practice her English (she mentioned she lived in England for a year). It meant we could be happy practicing our low-level French with her. The menu, while not large, has a good diversity, so those wanting a full meal can sit happily beside someone wanting something lighter. This suited us perfectly was one was hungrier than the other. The dishes are fairly standard, but very nicely done. This is not pretentious food, but good, honest regional French cooking. Overall, a very pleasant experience, and one we hope to experience again in the near future.
Visited 22.4.15 @15:00 on the way back to our hotel in Trouville. Had a table outside, very pleasant. A lovely hostess - very friendly, helpful and great English - offered help with the menu translation too. Unfortunately, we arrived quite late for lunch so decided just to have burger & frites. What a wonderful choice. It really was THE BEST burger - obviously homemade and certainly homemade frites, with plenty of salad and fresh bread. Nicely presented and lots of it!! If we had been staying in Houlgate, we would have been regular visitors for lunch and dinner. EXCELLENT! Thank you to the hostess and her husband, the Chef.
The lady who served us always with a lovely smile , and i do agreed she speak good English . If you can't understand French , cannot read the menu it was not a big deal she will explain to you ! We went there for afternoon tea and crepes , the crepes they served are different more like " homemade feel " . Pity that no chance to try your other dishes , hope one day i will back again ! Keep up the good works !
As a family we visited Houlgate for dinner and stumbled across this very charming and accommodating restaurant. The waitress was more than happy to change seating plans to ensure we could sit outside. The food was excellent (langoustine, seabass and veal steak), the wine was perfect. All in all, reasonably priced and superb food.
