Having lived in France for twenty years, we have ordered Moule Mariniere many times. This was a huge mistake on this occasion! It was a Sunday evening maybe the usual chef was off, but the dish my husband ordered was terrible! Most of the shells were broken or empty the few that weren’t had a mussel the size of a fingernail. For some reason there were large slices of carrot added possibly pretending to be mussels? He complained to the waitress (who didn’t seem surprised) she brought him another pot which were the same. He called her back she offered him a different dish but by this time we just wanted to leave. She was very apologetic charming, so we gave her 5€ she then came back to us with a bottle of wine gave us a glass each as an apology.
Both 2 beers, gave 50euro, when the waiter returned with my change, we went back to the hotel I took my change out and discovered instead of 40 euro change I got 20 with a half 20euro note wrapped up in it. I know this, was done on purpose. We would have ate and drank there for the week but we were so disgusted we boycotted the place. Happened on Monday 28th August. Be careful if you visit this place.
On our first night staying in the town we spotted that this place was busy but had some tables available and is in a great location beside a pleasant square. Although the service was OK the food on the whole however was very disappointing, generally bland, my mussels were gritty as if they hadn't been cleaned thoroughly and we felt that overall it was over-priced. The wine was very nice though.
Saw this place was busy, so thought I'd give it a go without reading any reviews. Terrible food, poor service. Very disappointing. As others mention, this is a tourist trap. Far better offerings elsewhere, probably anywhere.
