This restaurant was chosen by my colleagues to the venue of our firm's European Christmas Meal which saw a party of 14 people from across the continent come together for a festive celebration. We were seated in a private room on the first floor and having chosen our menu in advance, we were treated to great service and truly delicious food with a great selection of local wines on offer. Our menu was supposed to have been four courses but a bonus assiette of miniature desserts was added at no extra cost! This touristy part of Alsace has more than its fair choice of restaurants but Le Kastelberg is certainly one of the highlights.
We were on a walking holiday with a well known company but unfortunately had problems with our pre booked hotel, however Hotel Le Kastelberg came to the rescue! Not only did they bend over backwards to help find us two rooms in what was already a very busy hotel, they went out of their way to ensure that we had a fabulous stay. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful,the manager providing us with suggested local walks. The food was delicious and rooms comfortable.We would like to thank you for saving our holiday and making it one to remember.....
Passed by Le Kastelberg for coffee before lunch. Seems to be a nice small hotel and a restaurant with good food. the restaurant was almost full when we left. It stroke us that the lead waitress was very little forth coming when we arrived. when an elder lady came with a small dog (and she probably should not have done), or when a small child was a bit loud the lead waitress starred at them in the most impolite way, like she had done at us. It is a place that seems to welcome locals but definitely not people that are only a bit different.
We booked to stay in the hotel and in the deal a dinner was also included. First thing that was very impressive is that the staff spoke perfect English. Secondly i have an unfortunate condition of being lactose intolerant so usually it is difficult to have a nice meal when the menu is already set for you but the restaurant was very flexible and offered immediate solution of preparing the food free of any milk product.It was a very tasty and pleasant dinner. A special thanks to the amazing staff!
