Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to be treated like dirt. Staff here are just rude, arrogant and ignorant. Went there with my wife to get a table for lunch for us and 3 children. We were sat at a table for 6. While I nipped out to grab the kids from ski school, I came back to find my wife sat there with 5 menus, but only part of the table 2 chairs. We had already sat there for 15 minutes prior without being given any menus or being asked if we wanted a drink. It was busy but when we got there not all the tables were full. Dare I say the tables with French speaking customers seemed to be given attention but those without were mainly ignored and then spoken to like we were something they had accidentally trodden in. My wife explained that while I was gone the waiter that had seated us took our table chairs and gave them to another customer and he had ignored her when she had tried to stop him. She had been given menus by another waiter who she said was more pleasant but she had had to ask for the menus and these still took a few minutes to arrive. Another table became free but as we got to that table the waiter came rushing over almost manhandled one of my kids out of the chair. Apparently this was reserved, when my wife tried to explain to him the reason for us moving he was just plain rude and just started to throw his hands in the air and just repeated the word ‘non’ over and over and turned his back to us. We left immediately but not before my wife told him that she thought he was rude and she never does stuff like that so it must be bad. But he didn’t seem to care. Clearly it’s a common occurrence as they just didn’t seem bothered by their poor service. The family that was given part of our table also left within a few minutes of us and they didn’t look too happy either, clearly they had received the same awful service.
Le Matafan is a long established restaurant in the heart of Belle Plagne with excellent traditional food. Especially the Raclette Savoyarde is recommended! The atmosphere is very cozy and Christophe and his staff are super friendly and welcoming. The service was excellent and very attentive. We had two wonderful evenings at Le Matafan during our stay and we will definitely come back. Highly recommended!
Love this restaurant. Have been here several times during the past 8 days, for lunch and dinner. Fabulous food, atmosphere and service. We were looked after incredibly well. Thank you, Christophe!
Really excellent food. Service is efficient and friendly. Superb restaurant! You do have to book though as it is really popular.
