We have passed this restaurant many times and it was always closed, during our last trip in December 2012 we found the place open and decided to give it a try. What a mistake. The place was empty and beyond the need for a lick of paint and TLC but we were in the humour for a Chinese meal so we decided to fire ahead. I ordered Chicken Chow Mein while my partner decided on lemon chicken. The 'owner' was pleasant enough, though our lack of French and his broken English did not do much for communication on this occasion. The problems started when the food arrived. It was grey, cold and decidely disturbing looking and according to my partner there was no lemon sauce in the lemon chicken. For a moment I thought oh well, it is not up to expectations but it might be okay so I served myself a portion onto the small plate that came out with the small plate of food we were served. Then I realised that I had a 20 hour sea journey ahead of me which I am not normally bothered by but if I was to suffer from badly prepared food, I might be suffering from food poisoning on a rolling sea which would not be a pleasant experience. I promptly told the owner that his food was not up to standard and that I would pay for the wine but that we would not be partaking of his food and consequently we would not pay for it either. He made up the bill in full and offered to put the meal into doggy bags for me to take away. Politely I refused his offer and refused to pay for anything but the wine and that is when his wife turned up, fuming, shouting what I can only assume were not compliments. I paid for the wine (it was okay) and was shooed out the door by a screaming woman who in my opinion cannot cook. As we got out on to the street she slammed the door, I assume as hard as she could, still shouting. That door should remained slammed, in fact it should be nailed shut!
Probably one of the best places to find Chinese food in the area. The owner is very nice and it is always a humble experience. Recommended but make sure you have patience as their are only 2 people, the wife is the cook and the husband handles everything else. Pictures and suggested improvements on the way soon.
Has many choices and the owner was pleasant to talk to. Food was on point. Had sweet and sour pork with fried rice and a pha beef soup. Hard to find good Asian food- this one should be checked out at least once.
The meat is excellent... Nice frame... Perhaps a warmer welcome, the boss is a little cold as an impression, but it is certainly a feeling that I will come back....
