La Roche sur Yon is our Prefecture (capital of the Vendee Department) and so we visit quite often for official business and all so to attend the major hospital situated in the town. We have eaten in several restaurants in La Roche (mostly average, some less than!) but only today found this little gem. It could not be more central being within easy walking distance of the Prefecture, the shops and adequate parking.The restaurant is compact (about 25 covers with some external tables in good weather), spotlessly clean, airy and not at all cluttered. The service is swift courteous and highly professional. We were eating with friends on their day off from their own restaurant....they were pleased with the experience.The menu is not too extensive but it is imaginative including some Vendeen specialities but also offering a wider range. For example we all had a main course of "Porc Colombian" consisting of very tender, slow, long cooked pork with vegetables, rice, spices and shards of fresh coconut. It was excellent. The food was hot, came to the table promptly and was well dressed. I am unable to comment on the wine list as our friends were hosting us and he selected the wine.Haute cuisine it may not be but it is certainly significantly above average and with the pleasent service this little place elevates La Roche which, as a town, is a little depressing.3 Courses 20 Euros per person.
Quick unscheduled stop in this city while traveling. Great surprise! Warm welcome and service. Short menu but well managed and very fresh. The chef has talent, for sure. We were not expecting such a quality level while walking in. Congrats !
Very unassuming but on target in all departments. Central, interesting menu, well served by interested staff and tasted wonderful. My friend and I had a lot to talk about and they timed course delivery beautifully.
Excellent food for a very reasonable price. The plus was to sit outside in this nice old street of La Roche sur Yon.
