We look for local restaurants every time we come to France and Le Saint Aub was 10 mins drive from where we are staying so although it didn't have any/many reviews I could find on the web we took a chance last night. Unfortunately our proficiency in the Frech language is 2 x 15 year olds (twins) who although are aimed at an 8 and a 9 in their exams are at an age where they don't really like speaking to strangers, let alone in a foreign language etc. We needn't have worried as the hosts where good enough at English and also very very accommodating of us we managed to have a good conversation in the end. The restaurant has only been open since May and is establishing itself the outdoor area was very busy but we ate inside because of the heat. The food was a Carte of the day. 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 deserts to choose from. Starters are Euro 7.5 each and mains ranged from 19 for the steak down to 16 for the duck. We ate everything on the menu because there were 4 of us and it was all excellent. The sauce with the Gambas (large prawns) really needed a spoon it was so good..... the wine by the glass was excellent and including a Tip it was 130 Euros so i thought good value. I hope the restaurant thrives in the area else it has to be a trip into the bigger towns and the more formulaic places to eat.
