Leo's Mexican Food

I was raised in North Redondo Beach, on Inglewood ave. across the street from The original location of Leo's. I was a friend to the Presiados, Lionel's younger brother Ruben and I went to School together. In 1968-70, I had a Job working there, as a busboy, dishwasher, and assisted with cooking and filling orders.I am Now 72 years old and live in Ventura County. I still made sure to stop there and eat whenever I visited family in the South Bay.I still cook my own versions of Mexican food from the knowledge received while working there. It was a great place to work, and was relatively fun most of the time. I will miss it, dearly, and was a bit disappointed to hear that Starbucks is getting the property.

I started dining at Leo's fall of 1980. I used to work around the corner and our boss would treat us to Leo's for lunch every Saturday. We carried on with that tradition throughout my time working nearby. When dating my then girlfriend we would frequent having dinner there. We became husband and wife and have had at least 25 of our 37 anniversary dinners at Leo's. It's a special place in our heart. The food was, is, and always will be top notch. The service is always exceptional. We live quite farther away from there now, but still tend to make the drive now and then to enjoy a nice dinner.

Drove by last Friday and thought odd that Leo's was closed on a Fri. only to find out they permanently closed. Bummer!!! Always busy, and a patio seat always welcomed us for our favorite pitcher cadillac margaritas. Open for 70 yrs, we were glad to be able to enjoy Leo's for the past 20. We'll miss you and special thanks to your entire crew for their wonderful service!!!

I am so shocked and saden to see that Leo's has closed. I remember when the owners would greet the patrons and the were so proud of the history behind the opening of Leo's. This is a loss of some history. Fortunately we have some wonderful memories to cling to.

So sad still that's it's closed. Still holding out hope it find a way back. Its been here my whole life, and I thought it would be there for my kid's as well. He still asks to go to Leos almost every day.
