This is a wine bar that serves food, which seems to me putting the priorities the right way around. Having said that, the food here is really, really, good. I spent a very memorable evening here, enjoying the wine, the food, the service, and the ambience of the place as a whole.I think one of the differentiating factors of this place is the fact that the two guys who run the place just exude enjoyment of what they are doing. They obviously take pleasure in what they do and it reflects on everyone there. I did not meet the kitchen staff, but what they produced was mightily impressive. All around the restaurant there are various knick-knacks displayed; it's a rather eclectic collection including a full-sized traffic light, some old radios, various wine paraphernalia, and of course, wine. Lots of wine. Dining alone, I had to limit myself to wine by the glass, but this being a wine bar that did not mean I ended up with mediocre wines - I left the choice of wines to the waiter after telling him what I liked, and he did a great job selecting wines for my evening. The food - Duo de cèpes, sablé parmesan noisette, granités persil to start with, followed by Joues de cochon confites, anciens légumes et wasabi, and finished off with Biscuit moelleux guanaja/tonka, potimarron/orange - was all absolutely wonderful. I was stunned, as I hadn't expected anything of this quality of presentation and flavours in this style of place. My bill for the evening, including wines, came to EUR49, which I thought represented good value for what I received. Definitely on my list of favourite places to go in Pau.
