Beryl, her daughter and I had lunch here the summer before last, were most impressed. So we made a second visit last week. NO pretentions of any kind, but food of high quality in a friendly atmosphere. We liked the fact that there 's a big window into the kitchen, where you could see everything being prepared. Clean and extra-efficient presentation, with the chef personally bringing some dishes to the table. St. Romain is a wine town, tucked back in the hills a bit. Wine list consists, of course, of mostly local wines (St.Romains of various vintages and vineyards), by the glass, bottle, 1/2 bottle or even 2/3 bottle. We both had the Boeuf Bourguignon which was absolutely super. For the life of me, I don 't know how the cook was able to produce such a silky, rich and electric sauce. Must be due to the ingredients, 'cause the Burgundy beef I cook is never nearly this good. If you 're anywhere in the area, stop here for a unique experience. Highly recommended! G. B. Ray, now back in Wichita.
