L'instant gourmet

Gourmet by name and certainly gourmet by nature. This chef-owned restaurant is attached to the Hotel La Forestiere in Biscarrosse Plage and we knew by the crowded tables that this was somewhere special. Fortunately, we had pre-booked a table at hotel reception when we arrived, otherwise we would have been turned away like many others owing to the demand for tables. Apart from a mouth-watering a-la-carte menu, we had the chef's special of the day - very large langustines with scallops cooked to perfection in a sauce that I unashamedly mopped up with the remains of my bread roll - scrumpsous. The chef's apple pie with nougat ice cream was the best I have ever tasted. This restaurant is a credit to the talents of chef Syliain Gerard and I have no doubt that it will not be long until inspectors from Michelin discover this rare culinary talent.

My absolute favourite restaurant in the BISCARROSSE area. I lived in this town for 6 years, and can honestly say the chef, ingredients used, and quality of the service and food preparation is top notch. I have had the 5 course menu on a few occasions. Go with an empty stomach. The prices are not cheap, but they are fair for the type of food and cuisine you will be eating. A simple confit de canard is always good as well in the South of France where it is famous. From starter to dessert you will not be disappointed. Only wish the location was on the beach or overlooking the ocean. Don't let that put you off though as the food is worth it. Amazing chef Sylvain! Always an annual pilgrimage to this restaurant that will continue.

We arrived in some trepidation. The (few) Anglo-Saxon reviews on Tripadvisor were very critical, whilst the French were extremely positive. So, an open mind. Fortunately, we sided with our French cousins. This was an excellent meal. Good value (my wife went for the Summer Menu at €21 for three courses and I ordered the local menu at €26) washed down with a good rose at €16. The service was first rate (four waiters for about fourteen tables), the food superbly presented, tasty and that little bit different (apricots, sweet potato, and succulent duck slices). The 'local' apple pie was mouthwatering - and I know my pies! Altogether, a super meal at a very reasonable price in a very amenable setting.

Just ate there tonight. We had the set menu @€21 per person which was excellent value for money and the house red Bordeaux was well priced at €15. Very happy with our choice and would definitely recommend. We walked from biscarrosse plage in about 15 minutes but driving is only less than 5 minutes

This place looks good food just about average if you compare it to Mc Donalds the service was terrible no Air Con it was switched off one girl waitress for 12 tabels 2 couples left after wating 30 min to be served
