Only ten minutes from Deauville and you are away from holiday makers’ restaurants to where the locals dine – which doesn’t mean visitors are not welcome. By coincidence we were at the l'Orangeraie when it opened five years ago and it’s always been first class. With trepidation, then, we discovered new owners (September 2013). Some things have not changed, like the singing love birds, and one is still greeted at the door by a (new) lady Patron. Prices broadly the same but, following mentions in previous reviews, it’s now good to see more fish dishes. The new tip-top Menu at 45€ will give you a fine choice including the likes of oysters and fois gras to start, followed by beef, lamb, sea bass, and then cheese of course and desert. I had a delicious Sole as a main (still waiting for an explanation how Sole Meunière can be put out in Deauville at €39)Wine list good, with some carafes and halves. Overall, perhaps now not so sophisticated but caring attentive service and a good kitchen. Very good mid-week lunch prices. A complimentary glass not of Calvados but subtlety flavoured Rum to see us on our way. A good start. Here’s to another five years!
