On our way to a theatre and needed some food within an hour timeframe. There were decent choices on the menu, we like Lebanese and with the front of the restaurant open, it looked the part. Service was quick (it was early afternoon and not...many people seated) and the cocktails were a 3 out of 5. Both me and my wife had Mixed Shawarma and it was average. The meat was a long way from that 'just cooked ' vibe and the handful of sliced vegetables were bland and tasteless. Just as I was wondering where the sauces were, with a smile the waiter dropped 4 plastic containers into the middle of our table (see photo). No sauces in bowls, no spoons, I can only assume they also deal with takeaways and the offensive plastic pots were hanging about somewhere in the kitchen. Aside from the lazy, unprofessional plastic delivery, the garlic and chilli sauces were poor. The chilli one tasted okay at first but I think the garlic option was put together by a blindfolded child during a party game. Aside from strong garlic, it had no other taste and a weird consistency. An hour or so later the chilli sauce had left a disgusting after taste in my mouth. The sauces alone dragged the meal down from a 3 to a 2. If the food had in any way matched the service, my afternoon would probably have tasted better. Interestingly their (also average) website states Our food is 'nouvelle vague ' Lebanese, with its melting pot of respect for tradition and attachment to modernity . I guess 'new wave ' must now also mean plastic, given its full-time attachment to modernity. Would we go back? Only if the food was free and bought in from another restaurant. Avoid the Mixed Shawarma and probably anything else on the menu with sauce.
