Stopped in after a long drive. First time sitting at the bar which was packed since it was happy hour. Wonderful experience from the polite patrons who saw my partner was going to have to stand as there was only one seat available, and they all moved down the row so he could sit down. Thank you. Our two martinis were exceptional. Love a bartender who knows how to make drinks correctly. Market Place Avon has a festive vibe with fine interior design as I've mentioned before. The food is always spot on. A rare November day in the low sixties and sunny, driving around I told my partner we had to go eat somewhere outside to enjoy this moment. More easily said then done, as many restaurants are closed on Mondays! Ticking off one eatery after another on our quest, most had no outdoor seating or had closed for the season. Market Place Avon was both open and had place settings on their outdoor patio! Asking reception if we could sit outside, we were told they were closing this up but would ask the owner. He came back with a yes answer. We picked the table that would be getting the most sun before setting. A waitress hurriedly removed all other table settings. We ordered two cocktails at $15. each. For this price, please fill them up. Reordered the filet mignon toast appetizer, as noted in my prior review. Still good. Both our taco dishes were satisfying. My ahi tuna tacos with flour tortillas were what they should be, and my partner's fried fish tacos with corn tortillas had plentiful fish but could have used an accompanying sauce. I'm not sure fries are the right side for tacos, but they were okay. Service was fair at best. Our initial server seemed the most helpful. The second bussed food. The third couldn't even manage to bring us a simple candle, after seeing her inside through the glass doors with dozens on a tray dispensing them to tables occupied or unoccupied. She said, no, I can't bring you one... those are just for the inside. Note to owner: a one hundred dollar late lunch for two, outside or not, bring a votive/tea light to your patrons. In the vicinity, a spontaneous decision to eat at Market Place Kitchen and Bar in Avon after our first choice was still only doing take out, turned out to be a good one. My partner had eaten at their other locations and told me I'd like the food they serve. He was right. The interior is gorgeous. Love all the wood, the big skylight in the center, the long copper mesh insert in the ceiling a vent or just architectural design, the open kitchen and the private room with its fireplace and Japanese style pocket doors. Ordering drinks, I didn't notice their special margarita was made with habanero infused tequila. I couldn't get past a sip nor could my partner, so they were kind enough to replace it with regular tequila. Unbelievable in taste is the filet mignon toast appetizer. It's a ten. We split it but this could easily be ordered and eaten by one person as a smaller dinner. Served on a garlic demi b
