This is not your usual franchise gourmet chocolate shop. Marlain chocolatier specializes in a unique assortment of specialty chocolates. The selection is limited but most of the chocolates are unique in their composition. Mr. Marlain's creations contain ingredients you dont see at your neighbourhood chocolatier. The Marlain specialty is the incorporation of exotic spices into some of the products. It is hard to describe the taste sensation when biting into one of these treasures, and if you find them as tempting as many people do, you return over and over again.The shop is quaint with a variety of specialty items such as jams and sauces and specialty chocolotate items. And lets not forget his homemade cosmetics such as chocolate lip baum and lotions. In addition, you will find a great variety of coffee beans which Marlain roasts himself in the back room. If this is not enuf to shut off your computer right away and jump in the car (or a plane), you will be enthralled with a selection of homemade cakes and desserts which you will not find elsewhere (aren't you tired of the usual tortes and cakes on everyone's menus?). And if you don't feel like cooking , Mr Marlain (a well known and very accomplished chef) prepares frozen dinners for you to take home. There are no mistakes here.. It is all good.Mr. Marlain is usually there to greet you at the door and strike up a conversation .. just like those little shops in the old days.. And the prices are very good ... for this quality.. you dont pay Godiva prices...And all this in the heart of the Pointe Claire village.. a wonderful area for shopping to work off the calories you take in after eating everything in the bag you have just bought there.
We were told about this place by some chocolate connoisseurs who said that we absolutely had to go there. We had been driving past for years and never noticed it. The proprietors are wonderful people and the products they make are top notch. So many fine options - so creative. This is our "go to" spot for chocolates and confectionery!
Excellent hand made chocolates...unique choices...love the chocolate covered orange rind! You will also find here some homemade hot sauces, pre-made main dishes for take home meals, and facial creams.
One place I love to shop for gift giving on special occasions. Their chocolates are very good and I recommend their mango jelly it's delicious!
