Meery Cake Secret

We'd been told about this Tea Room by a number of people and came across it ourselves yesterday after the market. It is just along Rue St Martin from the main church but on the opposite side of the road. It is quaintly but very tastefully decorated and is pristine clean.We were welcomed with a small glass of iced tea compliments of the house. They serve a number of salads - we tried two, both of which were delish, especially the dressing - various egg dishes and a range of sandwiches. We also shared a piece of Apple Crumble Cake, my dining companion had a very nice decaf coffee and I had the best tea I've been served in any establishment in France since I first arrived in 2003! I am an inveterate tea drinker but simply don't expect to find good tea in France. Well I've found somewhere that has a tea card as good as any wine list. I had pretty pot of amber flavoursome Breakfast Tea (9) and it was really perfect. Our salads were Chevre Chaud and Chicken Salad. Both were beautifully presented. The Chevre had plenty of walnuts as well as four good sized pieces of very nice cheese. There was plenty of lettuce and tomato too. My Chicken Salad comprised a base of very fresh lettuce, some sweet chunks of cherry tomato, little cubes of Emmanthal cheese and throughout small bite size pieces of chicken. Both salads were generously coated with a very nice dressing. The apple crumble cake was a generous portion and plenty to share. We found it just a little dry and would have preferred a bit more apple but the flavour was very good and the texture was nice. The total bill for two very nice salads, a basket of very good bread, one piece of cake to share, a cup of decaf coffee and a small pot of really good tea was €29.50 Bearing in mind the prices and lack of quality on La Place, we thought this was very good value and we will be going back again soon. We were given all the time we wanted to finish and found the proprietors very charming. On leaving, the door was opened for us and we were ushered through we a very pleasant smile and good wishes for a fine day. All in all, a pleasurable visit to a lovely establishment

I'm a coveted teetrinker, but just don't expect to find good tee in France. I found a tee card somewhere that's as good as any wine card.
