New Lucky House

Having looked on here for reviews for a Chinese takeaway we were very disappointed on opening it when we got home. The shop itself when we arrived to collect the order was very old and tatty, news paper posters of the queen from many years ago. The girl that took the order and served was very pleasant and after being told to pick in 45mins we had to stand and wait for another 30mins when we got there however wouldn’t have minded if the food was good but is was not. I ordered special chowmein, although there was a good quantity it had a very strange smell on opening, was orange colour and stuck together, the pork was dry and tough, the chicken processed and “spongey”, had to throw it all away. Barbecue spare ribs, had no sauce as such, just a watery juice, very hard meat and again an unpleasant smell. My husband ate his special curry and rice but not much to recommend, even the chips were dry and tasteless. A lesson learnt, can’t trust reviews. I do not recommend, sorry to say, very disappointing.

We've been a few times and Lucky House cooks wonderful chinese food which tastes really fresh and nicely flavoured. Not overly salty or MSG infused like some other restaraunts and I really appreciate their huge veggie options menu. The owner is very sweet and always gives us some extra tasters to try. The veggie duck in rainbow sauce is especially DIVINE. Friendly service, great prices, quick service it is our favourite Chinese restaurant in Leicester and we wouldn't go anywhere else (and their kids are super cute as well).

We collected our first take-away today and it won't be our last. The vegetables were finely cut, not great chunks as we've had from other places. The Singapore chow mein was super and not at all greasy. The extended menu gives a fantastic choice offering dishes such as seabass in rainbow sauce, xo beef, Korean chicken to name a few. I was offered a sample of one to try as the dishes were new to me. Wow, it's going to take several visits to try them all....can't wait!
