It would be a shame not to do this when in Montreal. I've been to O Noir a few times and make sure to keep introducing it to as many people as possible! Try not to bring a lot because they ask you to keep your belongings in lockers - pro tip: bring a lock just to be safe. The food is average for the price you're paying, but O Noir is about the concept more than the quality of food. Part of what you're paying goes towards local charities I believe. The waiters are visually impaired so you put your trust in them while in the completely dark, pitch black dining area. Overall, O Noir provides you with an incredible experience that I encourage everyone to try. Make it better by ordering the "surprise dishes", it's worth it!
We were a party of 5, and super excited about the experience ahead. It was even better than we expected it to be.We had a little briefing of how the meal would happen, and then we chose our courses (2 or three). Then we were guided by our waitress into the dining room, it is scary to get in there, you have to trust the person in front of you... that's it. To be seating in a pitch black room was both uncomfortable and lots of fun. You cannot see your hand if you put it in front of your face! but I guess this also enhances your other senses and it is very interesting, we had no accidents on our table and we all managed to eat our food comfortably.The food was average, and the service was great. I would love to go back.
For once I could not take a photo of my dishes to put on Tripadvisor ;-) Well, it was an interesting experience, but confusing. I admit that we didn't really manage to relax in the dark and that in the end, when I came out, I was left with the impression that something was missing to make this dinner one of those restaurant evenings. that we appreciate so much. And what was missing was the view, and without that you realize how a dinner is not quite the same ... I opted for the surprise dishes and it was excellent. taste point of view.
It was really nice. Being completely in the dark allows you to rediscover the flavors of food. You can either choose your dishes or dive into the unknown and try an off-menu dish. I had a very good pork duo and a surprise dessert which was also excellent.Our waitress Lily was really lovely. I highly recommend this experience.
