My latest experience with Pattisons has compounded two earlier ones, and I won't be visiting again.Recently we ordered a cake for my mothers special birthday. We ordered a custom large size to cater for numbers. It was so disappointing. The promised custard filling was absent, and we received a plain sponge with a suggestion of jam. We kept a large slab to take in and show to the management. However, despite a phone call the next day (and a message left with a staff member) the manager did not return the call. I then sent a webform from their website and nobody responded to it.On another occasion some time ago I was at the St Ives store for coffee. The staff member said that she was too busy to butter my takeaway toast. My other experience was for a school fund raiser: no-one returned the P&C outreach email and phone call (a "no" would be fine, but the courtesy of responding was overlooked). I suspect this chain is poorly managed, and the staff poorly trained. It seems Pattisons has enjoyed a monopoly in some of their locations, and the management has developed a lax attitude to caring for customers. Hopefully new competition in these locations will thrive, and will drive Pattisons to address their culture and product quality.
