"Hôtel très bien situé proche de sulta della et des plages du sud bien desservie en bus. Si vous avez une chambre qui donne sur le jardin c'est très calme. Dommage que tout soit blanc et qu'il n'y ait pas un peu plus de couleur. Super petit déjeuner"

We had to make quite an effort and walk a long way to find Picco, as none of the listing sites bother to explain that it is part of the smart Prinsotel complex. We arrived very early, a few minutes after opening time. The inside dining area totally empty and we could see through the door that only one table was occupied outside. Nevertheless instead of the cheery, professional 4 star welcome you might expect, the first thing the sour faced, haughty, manageress barked at us was “Have you booked?” “No”, I replied “Sorry, we are staying locally and thought we would give it a try.” “Well, if you come again”, she said, without cracking a smile, “you have to book or we can’t let you in.” Clearly, she was a big “Fawlty Towers” fan and had got the art of being extremely rude to paying customers down to a “T”. She very slowly gazed around the totally empty restaurant to make sure 100 or so diners had not crept in while her back was turned and snapped, “Inside or out?” It was absolutely farcical! My wife nudged me and whispered, “Come on, let’s just leave.” I wish we had but instead we meekly followed her to a table outside. From this point on we were politely served by a pleasant young male waiter, with whom we had no problem. We have rated our experience as “two stars”, not one. In fairness, the setting was lovely, the waiter was nice and the food was ok but extremely overpriced. It was the last night of our holiday and we were hoping it would be the best. However, we could only bear to stay for one course. We could not wait to leave. Walking “home” we pondered on how a 4 or 5 star hotel could possibly allow itself to be hoodwinked into employing such a snooty, rude individual to run its flagship restaurant. Never again !

This is our penultimate night at Prinsotel. We’ve stayed here many times and eaten at Picco in Majorca at Prinsotel Dorada whilst also staying there a number of times. We have enjoyed a fantastic holiday here for two weeks and with multiple bookings brought some other family over for the first week. We wanted a takeaway from Picco. We asked earlier in the day if they could possibly make a simple pepperoni pizza. They said they could not. My teenage son is autistic and only eats certain foods. How hard would it have been to find a few slices of pepperoni to add to a margarita pizza? Especially for a paying guest in the complex deluxe apartment. We drove to Cala Blanca to buy him a pizza with pepperoni. We then ordered two pizzas for ourselves from Picco. The wait was longer than we were told not a problem! but the pizzas were underdone and would have been perfect with an extra few minutes in the oven. They were delicious though underdone with pale dough especially the Calzone which definitely needed more time. Make more effort with customer service it really does make all the difference. Friendly, helpful and flexible is the way forward . . .

We had a walk round thinking we’ll try the restaurant as the kids could have a pizza and we would be able to have something Japanese. When we arrived the place was empty, just staff stood having a chat, the first question was “have you booked” no we hadn’t but walking past the last few nights and never seeing more than a handful of people in why would we? We were then barked at “you need to book” Now I’m quite sarcastic and quickly fired back at her “sorry I see your really busy tonight any chance you can fit us in” She huffed and then asked where we would like to sit. The whole welcome was laughable, if the place wasn’t empty I would understand, but surely the idea is to make paying customers feel welcome? Food was lovely, setting is really nice just need to work on your customer service skills!

Decor and environment really nice, Menu offer runs a short number of items, however the risotto proved to be at an outstanding level. Other items choose did comply well with expected standards. The service at the table on other hand reveals severe opportunities for improvement, training, supervision or better selection on waiters are strongly recommend.
